Cookie & Tracking Policy
Version 1.2 - Last updated September 7, 2026
1. What are cookies and similar storage?
A cookie is a small value a website can store in a browser and receive again on later requests. Sites may also use local storage, session storage, or similar browser mechanisms for session, preference, security, or feature state.
2. Strictly necessary cookies and storage
DM Noctem uses WordPress and related infrastructure. Logged-in member features require authentication/session cookies so the site can recognize the signed-in account, maintain a session, and protect account actions. WordPress, security/CDN services, and related infrastructure may also use necessary cookies or comparable mechanisms to prevent abuse, maintain security state, or complete a user-requested login or form action. Blocking these technologies may prevent protected member features from working.
3. Functional and connected-service technologies
Some optional or connected features may involve third-party or service-specific state. Examples include Jetpack/WordPress.com features when used, Discord authentication or outbound links, and other integrations a member deliberately opens or connects. A connected provider may use its own cookies or browser storage under its own policies.
4. Analytics
- Cloudflare Web Analytics: not currently marked as enabled in DM Noctem Legal settings.
- Google Analytics / MonsterInsights: the installed integration is not currently configured to load a Google Analytics tracking code on DM Noctem.
If DM Noctem enables non-essential analytics later, the public policy and consent controls should be updated before those technologies load.
5. Advertising and cross-site profiling
DM Noctem Core does not intentionally place advertising pixels or cross-site behavioral advertising cookies, and the current audited configuration does not intentionally load an advertising-profile system through the Core plugin.
6. Other third-party requests
The current site stack may request resources from third parties even when those requests are not advertising cookies. For example, the current theme/site configuration loads Google-hosted fonts, and Jetpack/CDN functionality may retrieve or deliver site assets through Automattic infrastructure. Opening Discord or another external service also creates a direct connection to that provider.
7. Consent and controls
DM Noctem provides a site-wide cookie choice for optional technologies. Visitors can Accept Optional, Reject Optional, or open Manage to choose optional analytics and marketing categories separately. Strictly necessary login, security, form and consent-preference technologies remain available because they are required to provide requested site functions or remember the visitor's privacy choice.
The current audit found Google Analytics/MonsterInsights unconfigured and Cloudflare Web Analytics disabled in DM Noctem Legal settings. Choosing Accept does not itself turn either service on. If optional analytics, advertising, or comparable tracking is enabled later, that technology must be wired to the applicable consent category before it is allowed to load.
8. Consent preference storage
DM Noctem stores the cookie-choice itself in a first-party cookie named dmn_cookie_consent_v1 for up to 180 days. Its purpose is only to remember whether optional categories were accepted or rejected. It does not contain your name, email address, Player ID, Discord ID, Campaign information, or advertising identifier.
9. Browser controls
You can usually delete or block cookies through your browser. Blocking all cookies may prevent login, account security, forms, or other member features from working. Browser privacy tools may also restrict third-party requests. Deleting the DM Noctem consent cookie will cause the site to ask for your choice again.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Cookie & Tracking Policy when the site stack, analytics, integrations, or consent controls change. The displayed version/date should match the technologies actually in use.
